Web-to-print technology has growing impact on direct mail sector
According to recent studies, the percentage of marketing professionals taking advantage of web-to-print technology during the next few years will continue to expand.
The most recent InfoTrends research revealed commercial print volume purchased on the internet will increase from 15 percent in 2009 to 30 percent by 2014. According to Howie Fenton, a writer for Xerox's Digital Printing Blog, the adoption of the technology depends on a number of factors, and some professionals still need to be convinced that the strategy is wothwhile.
"But let’s look closely at this, because sometimes there are hurdles that slow the adoption of new technology," he wrote for the blog. "They include: cost of entry, ease of use, integration into existing systems, ROI and perceived value. In my experience, there is about 30 percent adoption of web-to-print in the companies I visit and only about 50 percent have it working well and are successful in making it a profitable part of their business."
When it comes to leveraging technology to help businesses, marketing professionals need to stay up to date with tools that can help their company's bottom line expand at a rapid pace.
