QR codes can liven up direct mail
As web-to-print services continue to diversify their range of products and materials for marketing purposes, many businesses are beginning to turn to QR codes as an additional means of engaging direct mail targets and prospects.
QR codes are small devices similar to barcodes that can be labeled on physical or digital objects and scanned by smartphones for seamless data transmission - be it a website URL, an image or other digital content.
When it comes to direct mail, marketers have begun plastering these devices all over postcards, flyers and newsletters to provide an extra bit of information, engagement or even entertainment for consumers.
"QR codes can also be placed on business cards or on traditional marketing materials such as brochures," writes Ramon Ray for the Business Insider. "This allows the business to change what the consumers access through the QR code, such as a special discount, without having to change the non-digital marketing. It also gives consumers one additional way to interact with your business."
QR codes are merely one example of new trends in direct mail marketing. Other businesses are beginning to adopt address verification programs to further narrow down their targets.
