USPS touts security of service with ad campaign
In an effort to attract more customers, the United States Postal Service recently announced that it would continue to tout the security advantages of choosing mail over electronic alternatives.
Bloomberg reports that though the USPS has lost 22 percent of volume during its last five years of operation, the agency is hoping the outreach effort started in September hits home with businesses and consumers. One of the ads features a piece of paper on a board and says, "Your refrigerator has never been hacked. An online virus has never attacked a cork board.”
Joyce Carrier, who runs the organisation's advertising outreach effort, said that the death of the mail industry had been widely exaggerated.
“Since the beginning of time, there’s always been something that people say will be the demise of mail, be it the telegraph or telephone,” Carrier said. “We still feel the mail has a place to play in every company’s marketing mix.”
While some companies have gone to purely digital efforts for outreach, many more have used direct mail to better reach clients. Using the service in conjunction with technologies such as address validation software is more important than ever, according to many.
