September printing sector gains on par with last year
According to a recent report, the commercial printing industry in the United States in September 2011 was nearly on par with figures from the same time period one year ago.
According to a study by Dr. Joe Webb for What They Think, U.S. commercial printing shipments in September of this year totaled $7.42 billion, a 0.3 percent increase from September 2010. It also found that the first three quarters of this year saw a 0.2 percent increase, but this lowered in dollar amount when inflation was taken into account.
"Our forecast models indicate that 2011 will be just under $85 billion, about a $2.5 billion decrease in inflation-adjusted terms compared to 2010," Webb wrote. "Our long range forecasts are unchanged."
While digital mediums have gained some popularity in recent years, the fact remains that sending out printed materials while leveraging web-to-print and other strategies works for many brands. It's vital that brands think about the right message to send out to potential or existing clients to get the most bang for their buck.
