QR codes used in publishing
Businesses of all kinds continue to adopt new methods to take advantage of the popularity of emerging mobile technology. One of the fastest growing trends in the print industry is quick response (QR) codes, which are graphics that can be scanned by smartphones.
One industry that has been quick to hop on board with the new initiative has been the publishing sector. Mobile Commerce Press reports that Vogue Australia included QR codes in its most recent issue, one of which featured model Karlie Kloss.
Many expect other magazines to follow Vogue Australia's lead and include the graphics to better engage with readers.
"QR codes are simple to use, which makes them attractive for companies that have limited experience in the world of mobile technology," the source reports. "Vogue is the latest magazine publisher that has adopted the codes as a way to engage mobile consumers. Given the rampant pace at which the popularity of the codes is growing, Vogue is not likely to be the last magazine to adopt the codes."
When used in conjunction with address validation software, QR codes can benefit a company's bottom line substantially.
