More mergers and acquisitions expected in printing sector
The printing industry continues to deal with ongoing uncertainty, as many experts expect an increase in mergers and acquisitions over the next year with less demand than before.
In a column for What They Think, Patrick Henry points to the recently updated "Industry Snapshot" from the publication's Economics and Research Center. He said that while the number of shipments would be smaller than last year, this could mean that the sector would experience more mergers and acquisitions than in years past.
"New Direction Partners (NDP), an investment banking and financial advisory firm to the printing industry, keeps close tabs on mergers and acquisitions (M&As) within the industry," the source reports. "Peter Schaefer, partner, says that NDP tracked 74 announced M&A transactions last year 12 more than in 2010, and 18 more than in 2009."
No matter what lies ahead for the sector, using printed materials in conjunction with web-to-print will help those relying on the marketing tool. Understanding what types of messages will appeal to a certain demographic is key to any successful business.
