Highlighting the benefits of Web-to-print implementation
Technology has completely reshaped the world we live in. Not only are consumers more reliant on it for personal reasons, rapid adoptions of tools that streamline operations can be seen in the business world as well. Printing companies can implement solutions that help generate more revenue, including Web to print.
Radixweb, an information technology services company that offers its clients a solution of this kind, states that Web to print is one of the best ways to attract customers who are already used to conducting e-commerce transactions and expect it from any company they choose to do business with.
Perhaps the most important benefit of this kind of solution is that it reduces the need for manual order taking, which can lead to errors that contribute to customer dissatisfaction. Another is the fact that all of the relevant status information can be automated. The system can alert consumers that an order has been received, is in process, completed and invoices can be generated, all without the need for human interaction.
Why invest in Web to print software?
According to InfoTrends, one of the primary reasons for printing companies to adopt this solution is the fact that it is growing in popularity and there is a strong chance that a competitor already offers this functionality to its customers. In 2012, Web-enabled printing processes represented 19 percent of the market in the U.S. By 2016, that number is expected to reach 28 percent.
This significant growth spike is a key indicator of how valuable an asset Web-to-print services are to companies and how consumers have come to enjoy the benefits of being able to place printing orders online, instead of having to make a trip to an actual shop.
The white paper also revealed that 58 percent of print-for-pay organizations and 54 percent of in-plant operations have already adopted the technology and provide it as a benefit to customers, primarily because it's a more cost-effective option when compared to consumers having to physcially visit a print shop to place orders.
The InfoTrends white paper outlined process costs for in-house, retail and Internet printing practices and the results were staggering. Retail was the most expensive at $21.28, followed by in-house, which was valued at $16.95. However, online was significantly less expensive with a process cost of just $3.80. The company also stated there is a direct correlation between client retention and the use of technology.
Printing companies that are unsure of the benefits of integrating a Web to print solution may be swayed by all of the data that outlines how it can improve their operations. As we continue to progress deeper into an era that is dominated by technology, there may not be another choice for organizations that want to remain in business.
This is especially true for printing companies. Once seen as an industry reliant on jobs being done manually, automation has helped lower overhead costs while adding more revenue to the bottom line as a result of a higher-quality of finished products and general customer satisfaction.
