Direct marketing tools of the future
While some companies have moved to digital tools for outreach efforts, many are still using printed materials to better engage with their target audiences. Those that rely on direct mail for marketing campaigns can leverage emerging technologies such as web-to-print to send out messages to potential clients and avoid places that will just toss the material in the trash.
According to a recent column in Digital Nirvana, the future of the industry could include video messages and other ways to draw attention to a product or service being offered.
"What would it be like if you could distribute your message using video inside a direct mail piece?" the source states. "Sounds like a cellphone stripped down to play a video message for a limited time with some interactivity. This concept is not new but the packaging and the price is critical for the success."
One of the technologies that marketers can take advantage of now is quick response codes. Putting the barcodes onto printed materials allows smartphone users to learn more about products and take advantage of deals and discounts.
