Companies to increase marketing budgets
Despite facing some struggles in recent years due to the downturn in the economy, the majority of attendees at one major industry conference said they planned to increase the budget they devote to marketing.
According to a survey conducted by Pitney Bowes, 80 percent of the 231 attendees at the Direct Marketing Assocation's 2011 conference revealed their intention to spend more money on outreach efforts that could include direct mail, address validation software and other strategies. The study comes after the DMA's report last year that marketing professionals would be spending a projected $163 billion on efforts, a 5.6 percent increase from the year before.
"Our customers are using customer communications management to drive revenue growth," said Leslie Abi Karam, a DMA board member. "Marketers today are investing in customer interactions by creating relevant personalized messages across digital and physical channels."
The DMA made other news recently when it hosted the DMA 2011 Conference and Exhibition on October 6. Industry professionals gathered at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center, where the organization handed out its 2011 International ECHO Awards.
