Cost of direct mail has decreased in past 10 years
Using direct mail is not only a highly effective way for businesses to spread the word about their products and services, according to one recent report, it is also less expensive than it was a decade ago.
A report by Digital Nirvana found that the cost of sending out printed materials has gone down by as much as 17 percent during the past 10 years. The reduction in costs, according to the firm, is due to advances in technology, such as address verification software, which ensures that materials connect with the market being targeted.
"Technology has saved us some dollars and definitely enabled more personal, targeted, effective marketing," the report stated. The firm also stated that the lower cost of direct mail was helping to "offset rising costs in every other area of operations."
One firm to jump on the direct mail bandwagon is search engine giant Google. The industry leader has begun sending out printed materials to potential advertisers with coupons for $100 worth of free pay-per-click services.
